Video marketing tips
Scott Navratil

Video marketing is a tremendous way to reach your target audience. That’s because smartphones have made it easier than ever before to watch video content while one the go. Consider these statistics about video marketing:

  • Youtube is the second largest social media site after Facebook
  • Youtube is the second largest search engine after Google
  • Each month, people will spend over 6 billion hours watching videos on Youtube
  • Approximately 33% of online activity is spent watching video content
  • Every 60 seconds, 100 more hours of video is added to Youtube
  • The average user will watch over 30 videos each month

It’s clear that video content is popular with internet users. It’s also a channel that is underutilized by businesses. That’s why there is great opportunity for businesses willing to try something new to reach out to their target audience.

Video marketing is relatively inexpensive

One reason many businesses never give video marketing a chance is because business owners assume it will be expensive. In actuality, a video marketing campaign can be launched without breaking the bank. Once you have the proper equipment to create the video content, you can share it across social media for free.

To get started, you will need a decent camera. Depending on how good you want the resolution of your video, you can spend anywhere from $100 to 500$ dollars for a sufficient camera. An inexpensive microphone, tripod, and lighting equipment will greatly improve the quality of your video content but they aren’t strictly necessary. As you achieve success through video marketing you can invest more into better equipment to enhance your video content.

Producing content

Now that you’ve got the equipment you need, it’s time to start producing your video content. The type of video content you create will depend on your product or service, your target audience, and your goals of what you hope to accomplish through video marketing. But no matter what video content you produce, it should meet a few criteria:

  • Grab the viewer’s attention in the first 10 seconds or you’ll find that viewers tune out
  • Keep it short. Try not to make videos longer than 2-3 minutes (ideally 30 seconds to 1 minute)
  • Video content should be unique and should provide viewers with something of value as a result of having watched it
  • Use video analytics to track what’s working and to fine tune as needed

Sharing content

Once you’ve produced video content, it’s time to share it with the world. Don’t be content to just put it on Youtube. Post it to Facebook, tweet it on Twitter, and pin it on pinterest. The more you share your video content via social media, the more likely your social media followers will be to spread that content to their friends and family.
