How to reach customers on mobile
Scott Navratil

It took a few years, but smartphones have been adopted almost completely in the United States and throughout the world. They aren’t just a tool used once in a while to get access but are constantly in the hands of every person who can get access to them. No matter what your target audience is, whether young, old, male, female, skinny, or large, they are on mobile.  That is why mobile is such an essential place to reach customers. If you can find a way to reach your customers through mobile, you’ll be able to increase sales and bring in new business. Here are a few ways to do just that.

Creating an app

A lot of businesses like to develop their own apps to keep their customers informed about their products or services. It is a great way to allow for loyal customers to do ordering or just to have all the information they need about your company. The real problem with this is that a lot of people think it is just as easy to head to your mobile website as it is to pull up an app, and 65% of smartphone users don’t download a single app in any given month, according to Tech Crunch. It may cost more money to develop than it is worth, especially for a lot of industries that don’t necessarily have regular sales to customers.

Social media

Communication through social media is a big one because it means that you are able to reach your customers through mobile or any other electronic device they use. To make this successful, you’ll have to be pretty on top of your social media and respond fairly quickly anytime a customer writes on your wall or sends a personal message. Social media is one of the number one things people spend time doing when they are on their smartphones, so finding a way to access them through that channel is a smart plan.

Text communication

A text is very direct and will always go straight to the customer. With a lot of social media, you have to post things and then just hope that your customer sees it. On the other hand, a text will go directly to your customer and ensure they are seeing the information presented. It is even better if you can allow customers to text you back. With an automated text response, they will be able to get quick questions answered, such as store hours or daily specials. For more in depth answers, the text can be sent to a representative to help. People hate making phone calls when they can just text someone, so this really monopolizes on the ability to communicate with your customers in a way that they are comfortable. If you are looking to communicate through mobile, the best option is going to be through text messages.
